Buy more easily and more often local produce!

Born from the will of a dynamic group of citizens that wished to facilitate access to locally grown foods (vegetables, meats, transformed products, etc.) through the flexibility of Internet, the Marché de solidarité régionale de l'Outaouais (MSRO) has for mission to make available local produce while creating a direct link between the producers and the consumers in order to induce regional development, community spirit, solidarity and environmental responsibility.

This sale system works in four steps:

  1. Local farmers post the produce available on the Internet Web page.
  2. Members of the market place orders on-line.
  3. Farmers deliver their produce, based on the orders, at the drop off point.
  4. Members pick-up their orders weekly at the drop off point.

It is a simple way to encourage local farmers and reduce the mileage our food travels and also improve freshness.

This initiative is supported from its beginning by the Table de concertation agroalimentaire de l’Outaouais (TCAO), the Société d’aide au développement de la collectivité (SADC) de Papineau, the Centre local de développement (CLD) de Papineau and the Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation du Québec (MAPAQ).

For more information on the project, we invite you to visit the Web page of the Marché de solidarité régionale at: www.marcheoutaouais.com

On January 2008, around 1000 citizens of the Outaouais had confirmed their interest in the project.

The Marché de solidarité régionale held information meetings for consumers and for producers and food processors of the Outaouais region, respectively on November 5, 2007 and on January 17, 2008.
